Pinky Promise

My 24 year old daughter ended a text conversation by asking, ‘Pinky promise?’

She wanted to be reassured that everything was good at home because of a number of blips that have been going on.

I was able to text back, ‘Pinky promise.x’, with a smile.

It is one form of promise that all my children hold dear to.

And all because we saw it in a movie many years ago. And I can’t remember which one.

The older kids have passed it on to the younger ones and they all take it so sincerely. Me too.

    1. Is it something from your neck of the woods? I only ever saw it in a film and no one else I know does it. It obviously had a great impact on my older kids at the time they saw it.
Don’t you just hate making promises and then getting called on them constantly to be fulfilled? I try not to say my thoughts of what we ‘might’ do out loud otherwise it’s construed as a promise even without the pinky.x

      1. It’s something that we say a lot here in our region like “do you pinky swear?” but I’m pretty sure it’s not originally from here 🙂

I rely on “We’ll see” if I’m not so keen about saying yes to something Hehe

      1. I’ll have to ask my two eldest if they remember which movie it was from. It’s buzzing round my head now. It’s probably more common than I realise. But still cute. You do realize that your little one will probably still be doing this when they’re all grown up?:)x

      4. My space cadet, as I like to call him, has always been full of the most bizarre questions that no one can answer. He’s 18 now and still like that. I don’t know who to blame.:)x

    1. Very true. Although it probably would look quite strange watching some of the politicians agreeing treaties with it.
Sorry, I’m off on one. Giggling away at the image.x

      1. It’s endless,eh? No need to sign contracts. No loan papers. Everybody just walking about linking pinkies. I’m going too far now. I won’t sleep tonight and it’s already tomorrow after 2a.m. I’m going to go dream of this simpler world. Night. Night.x
