Birds And Then Some

So, there’s a bird that speaks

And it’s not a parrot.

Never deigns to repeat,

How boring would that be?

This bird has wisdom borne of measure

And knows sweet sentimental songs.

Many witness this bird’s tweet

And hope to emulate its truth.

This bird, however, fears morning’s song

And wants to sing the whole night long.

Alas, this flighty creature flew

Into abyss and then it grew

Enormous wings

Of such proportion

Diluted by another portion.

And dulled the sense therein.

Such bird has weekday to embrace

It’s faltering and shy of face.

Another bird may do as well,

Or other creature

That may swell

Emotions’ heart

And flighty song.

Such as those I do not seek,

I like the bird that has a beak.

Brian knows the answer true,

His answer is a teacher,

Soother.

Others here have self-confessed

That addled brain

Knows what is best

To chill and to remember when

A Friday comes round once again.

So, fortunate the heart that finds

That no bird is required,

I doff, I laugh, I seek your name,

Truly, you’re admired.

For fortune finds

A friend in you

And, I believe this happiness true,

Except for one teeny ….

Observation

That all trains stop

At my station.

This busyness I cannot thole

And so I seek another goal;

Oblivion, a chore for some

Sometimes, I like the brain that’s numb.

Ho, Hum. Addendum.

Addendum

I am highly amused by many comments. I am just never quite sure how far to go.

And, I can feel and see myself shrug at some comments made to me.

Nothing offensive. People here are way too polite for that.

Just where is the line and how do you decide it?

I should probably have added this to my previous post. Ho, hum. Blame it on the Grouse and a Friday.:)  x

P.S. http://thevanillahousewife.wordpress.com/2013/08/09/finally-friday-august-9th-thirteen/ knows what I mean about a Friday. Don’t know about the Grouse. But, I hope one day to meet her at the kitchen portal and discuss it in great and humorous detail.

What A Laugh! Or, Not.

Is there such a thing as differences in humour between cultures? I’m asking because I have noticed that there might be. I may have to stop making certain comments that suggest, to me, that I am highly amused but may, in fact, seem facetious. It also works in reverse. Has anyone else noticed possible discrepancies? And, if so, any particular reasons why?

I don’t want to start a debate about this but I am genuinely curious. Is it down to cultures or just personalities? Is it modesty? Is it …shit….I don’t know what.

This could make a significant difference in the comments we all make.

I will not tell, at this point, what amuses me in comment but I would like to avoid offense! Both giving and receiving. Just askin’. 🙂 x

Marked, For One

If memories stir and salt this season,

Visceral reaction subverts all reason;

Pleading quietly in my brain,

To quell such love, so self-restrain.

Regressive journeys, known to mar,

Mistakes we make cause wounds that scar.

But heart and soul are so combined

Pounding, beating in my mind.

That once scorched heart has been refined,

All men I see leave me quite blind.

I’m marked, for one, by lesions.

Thought I would give it a go.  🙂

Because humour with versatility has given me my best moment of sunshine this morning.

With many thanks to http://wanderingjouster.com/2013/08/09/i-would-like-to/#comment-1096 for the Bouquet of Three Award to me.

Alphabetised

A bizarre card depicting

Emotive fire;

Girding Hades’

Impassioned and

Jealoused kingdom.

Laved mainly now of

Putrid and querulous,

Reactive souls.

Turbulent underbelly with

Violent welts,

Expressing

Youthful Zion.

I have no idea if this may already be a form. Taking each letter of the alphabet in turn, perhaps allowing connectives or not. Correct me please, I need to learn. A bit of licence on the ‘x’ too! 🙂 x

BUM! http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/5767

So similar, mine probably doesn’t count. Ah well, back to the drawing board. 😦 x

Pleiades

Pleasing to the eye of

Passionate Orion.

Perfect in visual

Portrayal of form.

Perfumed wind and water

Plead to Zeus, Salvation!

Pixels, stars reborn.

Think I might have taken this too literally! 🙂
