Deceit

This litany of love

Lies.

Caressing hands

Steal a touch.

Legs encircling

Betray

And walk away.

The eyes, too,

Deceive.

No soul window here

But lips that

Grimace

As a smile

And confess

A lesser

Rosary,

Pleading all

Is wrong,

Mistakes are human.

Divine forgiveness

Unfound here

Where

Deceit

Smothers

Love.

At The Crossroads

At the crossroads

Surfaces abound

Beneath

My naked feet.

Gravel bites,

Tarmac burns,

Hot stones sear

And scorch

The soles.

A wave comes,

Cool and calm

Washing over

And caressing,

Rising

To greet

Feet –

Decide –

And move on

At the crossroads.

No signs

Of life

Or direction.

A reflection

On yesterday

And what kind

Of today

Tomorrow will be.

Paralysis

Only thought existed

When the wave came – toe to head.

Limbs motionless,

Paralysed,

Numb to movement.

Afraid

Something,

Someone

Present and

In control.

And fear.

Such fear.

A mind to be lost

Perhaps

As with a soul,

If body has no control.

A thought occurs,

Grows stronger,

Repeated internally.

Release

From head to toe.

Relief.

Such relief.
