With thanks to Mark’s Gallery for these pictures he posted, depicting bush fires currently rampant in Australia. He kindly obliged with photos of Fire after I had joked that I was going to write poems working my way through all the elements, having done some on Air and Water. These pictures, although of actual events, elicited in me an entirely different sort of response. My apologies if some of them are depressing! But some of them are loving and sensual. So a good balance I would say, eh?
Drift now
In hazy cloud of ash.
It’s ended
And all of life is past.
Buildings
Commemorate for all,
Existence once,
Before all mankind’s fall.
Sleep now,
All music
Long since
Gone.
Silence.
No singer
Left
For song.
Harken
To the silence.
Now
It speaks.
History
Repeated,
All hope
Leaks.
Hush now,
Heaven
Weeps
For wrong,
Carrying
All souls
Where
We belong.

Plundered,
Distorted,
All hope burned.
Mankind
Broken,

It is a worrying time over here and those battling the fires. Unfortunately ‘some of the ex Green Government’ held fast to the no clearing policies. They wouldn’t allow trees to be cut down, or clearing to be done, where it was needed. Now we have people suffering, losing their homes, having to start from scratch. A powerful write Scottie. Thoughts with all those in the affected areas of NSW. Melbourne is in for a hot summer too, to think it is only Spring over here… x

It looks hellish which is, I think, why my thoughts turned to destruction.
How awful that some preventative measures could have been taken to reduce risk and weren’t.
I know you don’t ‘do’ politics but do politicians have the sense they were born with? Seriously?
Some judgement call, eh?

It is amazing when it’s all over the silence that hangs over everything. No animals or birds, even your footsteps are silent because of the ash underfoot. And it shows the connection to the elements are a powerful thing for us. Fire has always been a terror or a partner but it must be shown respect. Again your words touch that core within.

Policy makers doing a grand job as per usual. I know they can’t be blamed for everything but if preventative measures can be taken you’d think they would be duty bound to do so. And morally.x

You just can’t stay away from politics, LOL. A policy of convenience, sounds to me. It was convenient to ignore it, and inconvenient to take the measures.
