Brussel Sprouts

Why does everyone hate Brussel sprouts?

I was a good little girl. When I was told to eat up my vegetables, I ate up my vegetables. And I don’t think there is one that I don’t like. I acquired a taste for them all, you might say.

Unfortunately, no one in this house, apart from me, likes Brussel sprouts so it’s almost pointless having them at meal times.

But I am bloody well having them on Christmas Day no matter what the rest of them want.

Just thinking out menus.

And beginning my online shopping. Whee! Christmas is coming. Now I’m in the mood! 🙂

  1. mmm – we love brussel sprouts here – especially at Christmas. Daddy might fuss but he eats what mommy puts on his plate – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

  2. I eat brussels sprouts every week. If nobody else wants them I just boil enough for me in with the other veggies. One of the perks to being the only damned cook in the house!

    1. I tried that. They complained they could taste the brussels on the other veg. Tainted them! But as I’m cooking Christmas (as usual) we’re having them. On my menu now. 🙂 x

  3. My daughter was told at uni that brussel sprouts have a bitterness that only people with refined palettes can taste. Unfortunately they’re making the most of that in my family. I am a peasant, and love sprouts, especially with speck, or bacon. Yes, I think I’ll have some for Christmas too!

  4. It’s exactly the same in my house. I love them, my husband and kids hate them. 😦 But I’m jolly well having them at Christmas too. 😀 That’s one advantage of being the cook, isn’t it?

  5. I love Brussel sprouts! Not sure why they and beets get such a bad rep. Even my kids like Brussels. Its all in how you cook them, never steam! Roasted or sauteed with garlic and a nice carmelization, yum!
