Why? Innocents hurt is a national scandal.
New homelessness statistics are just in: Nearly 85,000 children in Britain to face Christmas without a home.
Agree with us that’s an outrage? Please share and support our appeal if you can: http://shltr.org.uk/5s
This really makes me sick, there are thousands of empty properties around the UK but red tape stops them being used. Where I live there are around 50 empty council flats but because they are not sitting on housing stock because of awaiting repairs they cannot be let.
Then you have the old person who once needed that 4 bedroom house but now on their own, refuse to move because its their home, yes it is but come on stop being so selfish. The UK government has 100’s of empty properties for visiting dignitaries and sometimes up to 20 helpers. Then the illegals who say they dont have a passport and so cannot be arrested or deported and live happily in their sublet council house, sublet by the original tenants who have made so much money they bought a house. The council do not have the resources to check every tenent. Finally corrupt housing managers who give the new buildsnto family and friends. In a town near me the housing manager was sacked for giving two brand new built council homes to his two daughters who were not entitled, yet they got to keep the tenancy agreement because they had contracts.
There is no need for anyone to be homeless its the 21 century, man, woman or child and we can protest, complain or picket if this or the next government cannot be bothered and as long as these multi million pound MP’s and Lords are happy in their large estates and their London penthouses paid for from our taxes nothing is going to change. It makes me sick to my stomach.

It is appalling, Pete, that poor decision making or bureaucracy should be behind any of this. Absolutely no reason in this day and age. Added to that we still have here in Scotland warrant sales and evictions, one of which was highlighted just recently. It must cost more to implement these things than to find another means of managing problems. A real scandal. x

After my accident in 89 we lost the family home as the interest payments were so high that we had to cancel the illness/unemployment insurance as it was insurance or mortgage, we have a beautiful home I had just finished putting in a new kitchen and bathroom, then in a split second it was over. The papers came from the bank within 6 weeks, we moved into a cottage in the country, then had to move after 12 weeks because of the damp, into a housing scheme which was full of drugs needles in the play area, then back to the country for 2 years and now into the home we are now for the last 15 years, one of the houses was so cold that we went to bed with clothes on and two quilts only 1 fire to heat the whole house. We were lucky, but it could have been different. There are a lot of landlords will not accept DHSS but they are the people with guaranteed rent payments. Do you know also around 800 ex service men will also be sleeping on the streets, men and women with medals, those who are fought and been marked physically or mentally because of war.
This government makes such a thing about what a great job that the service personal do, but once finished the government don’t give a damn.

There just seems to be a distinct lack of care when it comes to so many areas of hardship for people. Describing your own loss caused through accident seems so unjust. And then the options offered for accommodation. I know of others where the living conditions leave so much to be desired and that’s private rented accommodation. There does not appear to be a lot of accountability when it comes to reasonably expected living standards. So many without, Pete, and as you say not an awful lot happening to alter the situation. There are so many things wrong with the way a variety of systems operate. Too much bureaucracy and not enough getting to the nitty gritty of problems. Those addressing the problems on the front line are ordinary people who care. There are food banks sprouting up all over and these are to address the fact that government agencies are failing in their duty of care. So much wrong. I could smash them all. 😉 x

To much money is wasted, I cannot work now and I know my condition is going to get worse. My wife works and works hard, we don’t smoke, we don’t drink, we don’t go out, we don’t have credit cards or loans. We don’t get help with our rent or council tax because we are £11.20 over the thresh hold my wife cannot cut her hours as she is a manager so we survive and extra money we have goes away to travel to Wales once a year to see our son and his family.
I have seen us wrapped up in the colder nights because I am terrified of the heating bill, my last one was £1200. My two neighbours they get their heating allowance paid into their bank accounts while at their daughters in the US, they leave in October come home end of February…… Why? because they are of pension age despite their savings or income, from which he has from his gardening job on the side. I have had to start wearing fingerless gloves in the house on the colder days as my joints hurt so much. I have worked since leaving school, my tax paid is just as good as anyone elses, so why do I have to suffer on, while my neighbours live it up in the US, along with many others who run off to Spain.
I am not racist but why does the guy come from the eastern European country get income support, housing benefit and family allowance for their kids back in the country they have come from. Yes come here to work, work hard pay your way but don’t take food from the mouths of our children, don’t take the roofs from over the heads of our families. This cowered of a government will not stand up against the EU, stop paying them billions, stop accepting Eastern Europeans without a job or trade or change the law to be able check CRIMINAL RECORD in the country they are coming from. I have friends from Poland and they have been here 6 years and he works 12 hours a day 7 days a week as a engineer they have lovely polite children and take nothing from the UK.
AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH I hate it all and it frustrates me so much that I cannot have a decent life in my own country. 11% pay rise for MP’s just remember there are more of us then there are of MP and guess who has the vote!!!!

I hear you. Unfortunately, I’m having my doubts about whether it would make any difference who we voted for. I used to believe it made a difference. Now I’m not at all convinced. Still, I would rather not have today’s crew!

🙂 It was stunned silence and then I heard a giggle from one of the other guns, then the guy running the shoot, handed me a days money and asked me to leave, I was never asked back, I hated it anyway it was cold, boring and dangerous – It wasn’t worth the hassle. 🙂
