When my 20 year old daughter said she wanted a ‘family tree’ picture I thought she meant gathered around the Christmas tree. Nope. IN the apple tree! So we did. Down the garden, through the wet grass, up the tree. Not the adults. We’re not stupid! We loitered around the trunk. My 24 year old daughter and 23 year old son started on their patter and my jaws ached from laughing. All my kids about me for Christmas. Sister and her three, brother, future son-in-law. Magical times. Fifteen gathered to eat, drink, chat, laugh and celebrate. And all to do again for New Year. I wouldn’t have it any other way. But I’ll be needing a holiday at the end of this.
To chat a while –
an hour
or ten –
and know you understand.
And in the understanding, know
that you are understood.
An implicit sort of knowing,
born of love’s connection.
Blessed,
Acceptance,
Joy,
Amazement,
Proud,
Privileged.
In awe.
These,
my own.
I am unworthy,
but not.
I must have had
something to do with
who they are,
how they are,
the wonder they are;
their personalities,
characters,
humour.
Thanksgiving,
we don’t have,
as some do.
But I have,
in measure fullest.
Blessed,
Acceptance,
Joy,
Amazement,
Proud,
Privileged.
In awe.
All twice.
And again
tomorrow
and every day hence.
Lovely. Sounds like a wonderful family holiday!

It has been amazing and it’s not over yet! I’m currently having a time out to rejuvenate. Cooking for the clan takes it out of you!
Hope you had a great day too. 🙂 x

Did my fair share of cooking too- although the clan is slightly less large than yours! And far too much eating of the cooking… still stuffed!
The celebrating continues… Have a wonderful Hogmanay- in case we don’t chat before then!

At least the Hogmanay cooking is a lot easier. Massive pot of stew pretty much takes care of that. 😉
Have a great New Year too. 🙂 x

It was an incredible day sis….food was amazing, the company on a par with the food, and as for ‘shout it out’ – and the fake moustaches – what can I say? Let’s do it again! Hogmanay at your hoose! Woohoo! The family tree – so special. xxx

I was going to post the moustaches and the tree but decided against it! 🙂 Hogmanay at mine it is. x

Thanks. It was wonderful. I hope yours was too. I was reading your post about the delivery that you have to pay for. That sounds awful. Why they would force you to do that. It’s almost pointless accepting it. And you still get charged. I hope it works out. x

Thank you. I forget sometimes how amazing they are. Days spent together like this are a great reminder. They can reduce me to tears of laughter. 🙂 x

Thank you. It was marvellous fun. And we get to do it all again in a few days. I have to go into training to keep pace with them. 😉 Hope you had a great day. 🙂 x

I had a similar Christmas with family, but not quite as emotionally fulfilling. But nice nevertheless. I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s, and the entire year is a triumph of life and love.

I’ve been a bit neglectful of my crew with all my blogging and working. So having them all together and rediscovering their humour was special. I’ll have to make a resolution to do more of it. It was emotionally fulfilling. But draining too….
Glad you had a nice one too. And Best wishes for the New Year and all your heart’s desires. 🙂 x

I can’t be bothered that much myself. But weans of a certain age want the whole shebang and saves them going out on the razzle. A few drinks, some songs, maybe a wee quiz, some laughs. Then rest before return to work. Wish I had another week afterwards. But I better not complain. 🙂 x

yes no complaining – you shall have a good time as will they I’m sure 🙂 Love the expression – going out on the razzle 😉 x

Trying to stop them going out on the razzle. Hellish getting back from town on Hogmanay. So, home time parties oblige and fit the bill. 🙂 x
