Eighteen year old boyo returned home tonight proudly presenting a new set of speakers for his I-Pod. Including a bass speaker. Wonderful. We’ve all long criticised the quality of some of the docking stations that have seen their way through this house. Never enough bass and the sound quality can be quite tinny. I hate that. Really discourages loud music playing.
I like my music loud. If I’m doing housework (if) I want to be able to hear my music from room to room. When Freddie Mercury is encouraging me to think that ‘I want to break free’ then I want to hear him. If I’m singing my heart out to ‘Who wants to live forever?’ I like the volume turned up.
It’s not that I don’t like quiet music. I do. But I really enjoy it loud and then I can feel it too, thrumming through my body and making me dance. Might be a generational thing and the types of bands listened to in the past. And present, if I’m honest.
A lot of what my kids like I like too. But not all of it. And vice versa. Which might be why sometimes they come home when I’m busy ‘doing housework’ – dancing counts as long as there’s a hoover attached to one hand – well, it does! and tell me that my music is waaay too loud.
So, I’m feeling a bit hypocritical tonight ‘cos I enjoyed David’s demonstration of his new speakers earlier. But now, I want to go and stick them where the sun don’t shine. His room is right above mine. And I can hear and feel every vibration. He has half an hour more then I’m gonna pull rank!
Oh my goodness I get the same thing from my children, they are always complaining that I play my music too loud (especially teenage son). Nice to know I’m not alone.

Damn! I am so glad I was never a real mum. I had a 14-18 year old step-son, but he was a computer nerd. He never played his music loud, just played the computer games and had headphones on. I would often have to check his room to make sure he was still alive. I have to use my headphones all the time here. My mum has frequent migraines, or whatever, (like today) and she goes from the living room to the bedroom all day. I can’t tell if she is trying to sleep or is busy doing something. She hates my little speakers because a have a super bass with them. She claims she can hear the pounding in her room, but I never have heard it. I have tried exactly when she says she is hearing it, nope, nada. I can sometimes hear it in the bathroom, after I have gone in and sat down. Can’t do anything about it then. Today is one of the back and forth days, so it is all day with the ear buds. At least x-mas 2012 she bought me some kinda’ decent ear buds, Bose. They work better than the headphones which were shredding black stuff in my ears.
I am so cool, I have never had to grow up. Hahahaha.
Peace & Love

Oh what a pain. I need to be able to have music loud….at least some of the time.
I’ll try that link again on my laptop tonight. I tried last night on my stupid kindle and apparently I have to download some Flash upgrade or something. Hopefully, catch up tonight Rene. Not downloaded Skype yet either. But I’ll get round to that too.
Better move my butt now for work or the weans will be waiting on me. And I can’t exactly write myself a note for why I’m late. I hate being late. Hugs, Rene. x

I love all music everything from classical, the 1812 at full blast with the bass turned up especially if the recording uses real cannons, William Tell is great also and Peter and the wolf, then onto Tubular Bells, did you see the documentry the other night on BBC4 on Oldfield and the story of TB’s you will get it on the iplayer. I love any music which tells a story, but country music is really my passion, John Denver is my all time favourite, I have his discography and he sang and wrote not just country which I think he is kind of known for but most of his other work is stunning, also his voice is just amazing. Go to Youtube and find John Denver and ‘The box’ as well as ‘Casey Jones’ its nothing to do with the train driver, I can guarantee it will have welling up if not floods of tears……..btw I am 50 lol. Did you get my email? Its a bit long winded, but may have ended in your junk again lol 🙂

One of my favourite memories is being driven in a fancy car when I was in my teens listening to the William Tell Overture blasting out. Everyone outside of the car looked as if they were moving in time to the tempo. Quite surreal.
I really don’t watch TV so I kinda miss everything that’s on. But I’ll see if I can get it on iplayer if I get the chance. I always liked him. He did one, I don’t know if you remember, ‘Moonlight Shadow’ I really enjoyed too. Actually singing. I’ll also check out John Denver. I used to sing a number of his songs as party pieces. And I’m always up for a good greet if the occasion warrants it. 🙂
I got your email. Not got round to replying yet. I’m awful at keeping up to date. But I eventually do. 🙂 x
