Shall We Dance?

Will you dance the tango with me

And make me forget all life’s woes,

Hold your cheek close to mine, rough to soft

While I clench in my teeth a red rose?

Will you waltz me around until dawn

In a ballroom where only we two belong

Skirting floor edge to edge in grand sweeps

While orchestra plays our love song?

Will you Charleston and laugh as we flap

Giddy moves, all dressed to the nines,

Flirt outrageously, pose to the world

While forgetting all sad other times?

Will you twist me and turn me around,

Shake hips with luscious desire,

Berate the baleful and bored

While hearts are consumed by our fire?

Will you strip the willow with me,

Hear the skirl as I spin in your arms,

Skip up each line, reuniting in time,

While you succumb to all of my charms?

Will you rock and roll if they play,

And twirl me in jauntiest jive,

Laughing loudly at moves that we make

While you reassure me I’m still alive?

Will you boogie to disco, though crass,

Strut your stuff to show your emotion,

Remembering how those years were filled,

While new times inspire true devotion?

Will you pogo and romp if I smile

And suggest that we always must dance,

Partaking of life with its music to rouse

While we serenade this, our last chance?

Will you hold me for slowest of tunes

As the night draws to close and we sway,

Will you promise to be the dance of my life

While the music ebbs, fades away?

I have no words for what is here. Please read.

Open up the papers on any day of the week and you are bound to find another article on rape. It is a pandemic. No corner of the world is safe from it.

I tend to get my daily news from the Guardian. The world’s attention is once again focused on rape and violence against women in India.

Connaught-place-inner-circle-1On Tuesday, a Danish woman was gang-raped near Connaught Place, a popular shopping location in the centre of New Delhi. She was lost and asked for directions. Is this what things have come to? A 51-year-old woman getting beaten and robbed, raped for daring to ask for a helping hand. No arrests were made.

Visiting India had been long on my list of must dos, but I have to admit I will not be making my way to the subcontinent in a hurry. Until the Indian government takes the issue with the seriousness…

Voices Carry

Passing on a voice worth hearing. Eloquent. So much sense. He has my vote for a new kind of world leader.

Looking to my friend the Lorax for some perspective and wisdom right about now.

I don’t get angry- as in raging, yelling, screaming, po’d– all that often.  This is not to say that I don’t have my moments (ask my sibs.  Or let Fletch tell you the story about the night I threw the beer bottle at his head… it was empty.  And I meant to miss him.  And he agrees he deserved it- not so much for the practical joke that led to the toss, but for the goading that continued despite the fact that there was clearly steam of a forbidding sort exiting my ears as he just kept talking…).  But generally speaking I tend to be fairly even-tempered- often to a fault.

I can summon outrage at the inequities and stupidities and ethical lapses of the world at large, or defensive anger if you mess…

What if!

A beautiful ‘If’….

Healing Your Heart From Within

What if, when we finish our lives on this planet, we have learned to love, have compassion, create from our hearts, heal from within and understand unconditional love? What if, after many soulful lessons, from struggling through life, turning ourselves inside out, emotionally crucifying ourselves and left physically drained from all of life’s hardships, much understanding has been gained?

And God say’s, ‘Now you are wise!’.

What if, after God say’s this, that we finally do understand that we are a part of God, He is inside all of us, teaching, guiding, loving…unconditionally? What if, we then begin to understand our new ‘life’, one of being a part of the whole, but each an individual spark of creation, a birth of something new?

And God say’s, ‘Here is a new planet, it is called Gaia, now be that truth!’.

What if, as we realise where we are now going, we now…
