So, by way of partial apology for not even looking at, let alone reading, other blogs in the last couple of days, I offer you this.
I’ve had the week from…..well, not hell, but not an easy one. We all get them. Life, I think they call it.
So I’m chilling. And loving it. A little bit of writing. Not fit for posting yet. A few haufs.
Nothing in my stomach all day, by the way, which isn’t good news for my stomach or tomorrow’s hangover. But appetite has gone somewhere. And I can’t find it.
Anyway, this guy I’m posting I’m proud to call Scottish. A guitarist, composer, singer, dreamer. He takes me back to my youth when I adored Dire Straits. ‘Sultans of Swing’ was my anthem for so long.
I find it hard to select which of his songs on this particular cd I favour most. I pretty much love them all.
But, if forced, I select this one.
Sung with James Taylor. Another hero. This song actually made me research the Mason Dixon Line. Because I didn’t know what it was. I even bought a book on their story.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy. Because the only thing I am doing tonight is listening to music. Having a hauf. And I might try to persuade my stomach to eat something. Anyone got any chocolate?
Btw, this is the B side of what I bought the cd for. And it’s my favourite side. Just goes to show…..we don’t always know our own taste.
My sixteen year old has just taught me how to insert a video. So easy. And I’ve been like a headless chicken about it for so long. Kids, eh? Wee shits. They kid you on they know nothing that matters. And then they come up trumps.
Anyway, I’m garbling. That would be the 3rd whiskey having its effect. Enjoy. I’m not listening to this ‘cos I’m starting the cd from the beginning again. And going with the flow. Happy weekend everyone.
😉
Mmm, time out sounds like a good idea…but since I don’t drink…there is one of those Ice Creamery shops here that you can pick and choose from about 300 flavours…I might go get smashed on dairy products for a couple of hours and just bloody enjoy it for a change. I may pay the consequences later but I’m gunna go down smiling! 🙂 With you all the way mommus, putting the headphones on now to listen to the ‘boys’…oh, and a big hug from Aussie as well, I love you, even if the world is being an ass! 🙂

I hope you got smashed on your ice cream. I’m afraid three was my limit! But then home measures are a bit of a guess. 😉 I’ve had a totally chilled out time. With a bit more to come today. I hope. Ready for a new week. The world is often an ass. But then so am I, at times. 🙂 Thanks for the love, Mark. Always appreciated. And reciprocated. x

Aw, thank you, Mark. A unicorn, eh? I can live with that. Any chance evolution would give them wings? A happy bunny I’d be. 🙂 Hugs.x

Create away, you have much creative power for that mommus. By the way, does that have anything to do with that urge to glide, as in those winged men that jump off high places? 🙂

Completely. And eagles! Just feel god should have given us wings. Or would we get beyond ourselves with ability? 😉 x

I love James Taylor, this is a great song. The Mason-Dixon Line is an imaginary line (boundary line) between the states of Pennsylvania and Maryland. I am from north of the Mason Dixon line and proud of it. It marks the division of the northern and southern states. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mason%E2%80%93Dixon_line It is a pretty big deal for people in Pennsylvania… great song, great post, relax, hope the week is gone and over with for you!

I bought this cd a number of years ago. And fell in love with so many of the tracks. ‘Sailing to Philadelphia’ had me entranced. I had to search up the Mason-Dixon line to satisfy my curiosity. Then I bought the book about their story. By Thomas Pynchon.
You’re right to be proud of your home. I guess we all feel that in many ways. Not always evident and then a surge of something overwhelms. This cd did it for me on Friday. A bit moody and melancholic with sentiment. A bit overawed. But all good now. A new week dawns. 🙂 x

Gawd, if I’d thrown back a shot or three for you I’d have been wasted. 🙂 I hope you had the chance to have a shot and a time for chilling. You deserve it don’t forget. Think I’ll probably rest up the rest of today. Might even catch up on some post reading. A lazy weekend in all. Just what I was needing. Hugs to you, Desiree.x

I’m gonna start on protein shakes soon if I don’t get back to normal eating soon. And yuck to that idea. I have been utterly lazy and caught up with my best friend. Our usual telepathy was going into overdrive from absence of contact! We don’t get to see each other so often. So a joyous day was had yesterday, blethering for hours. And yup, sipping red wine and munching nibbles.
Sorry you had so much work on while I lazed. 😉 Thanks for your lovely words. You’re a gem. x

I’m fine. Was just shattered on Friday. 😉 I don’t know if there’s a way to upload them on comments. I know others have inserted videos into comments before now. But I don’t know how to do that either. Finding my way still with certain things. Why not post your photos on your blog and we’ll all get a look-see? It is a totally chilling album. I fall asleep to it regularly. 🙂 x

Wow I didn’t know they had collaborated! Two of my favourite artists! Thanks for posting…I have to tell you though, that Mark Knopfler is not Scottish; he’s from Newcastle! x

The two are fantastic individually and together, just wowed me, on this one. I want to claim MK as Scottish! He was born in Glasgow although he was raised in Northumberland. I watched a fab interview with him and Phil Cunningham, the Scottish folk musician, comparing their love of music and the antics they all got up to. By the sounds of it the folk musicians were more rock and roll than the rock and rollers. 😉 I checked a wee link and he’s definitely Scottish. Please don’t take him from us! We can share. 🙂 x http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCh1Cdm8X8A

Oh, sorry! I bow to your superior knowledge :)…all I knew was there are lots of references to Newcastle in the early Dire Straits stuff. If he was born in Glascow then that certainly makes him Scottish! In my teens I was a huge Dire Straits fan and I also liked his soundtrack to Local Hero (set in Scotland) Not heard much of his solo celtic stuff tho…this sounds great x

Lol. 🙂 I didn’t know myself until I watched the documentary. I’d followed them for years too. I take it all the references to life on the Tyne are because of where he spent most of his childhood. Local Hero is a great movie although I watched it a wee while ago and the only thing that hasn’t dated is the music. 😉 x
