Achilles’ Lips

No subtlety

In loosest lips

Words that sunk a thousand ships

Battle-scarring tongues

Impale by deft design

Oh, cost of all

Who’ve died the death

Devoid of all once perfect blest

Achilles’ lips must be

Love’s weakest tine

    1. Words are powerful weapons, aren’t they, Beth? And too often loose cannons. From the everyday conversations to the power brokers. I guess we can all be guilty of not always realising their impact before speaking. Being aware of their potential is half the battle won I reckon.x
