On occasion, it is desirable to reward yourself with chocolate.
Not obligatory.
If it were obligatory, I’d refuse.
If it were obligatory, I’d find reasons not to eat it.
If it were obligatory, I’d eat celery instead – at a pinch.
After having just scoffed a slab of daughter’s chocolate birthday cake followed by a peppermint Fry’s Cream – because who can drink tea without something? – I’m left mulling over this idiosyncracy.
Try to force me to do something, not a chance in hell.
I’d put the chocolate in the bin first.
Fortunately, no one is forcing me to eat chocolate.
And, bizarrely, because no one is forcing me to eat it, and because I don’t feel obliged to deny myself it either, I don’t feel compelled to scoff it all the time.
I feel, tonight, chocolate, in all its dark splendiferousness, has revealed some wondrous truths about business, politics and the state of the world in general. Not to mention my personal outlook on any notion of diet fads.
Or is that just the cocoa speaking?
Just the mere mention of chocolate has me heading to the pantry. Now, how about caramelized brussel sprouts dipped in fudge? Sort of a reward and punishment, to cancel one another out …

I love brussel sprouts! I know I seem to be in a minority when it comes to them but I could eat bowls full and rarely get the opportunity here because so many of my crew don’t like them. Brussels and fudge, hmmm, I wonder.

I love the sprouts, too- but I’d draw the line at the fudge-dip. I think I need to go find some chocolate now…

None left here, oops! A fellow brussels lover! I don’t think there are too many of us around from what I can gather – I’m sure someone’s even meddled with the strength of them, to try for wider appeal, as they just don’t seem to be as strong any more. One of the best bits about Christmas for me 🙂

I love me some sprouts-Dad used to make them fairly regularly, but we seem to only do them at the holidays. Might have to remedy that… although the Lad might not be as enthusiastic about them as I am.
Was reminded that it’s a year tomorrow since we left Scotland headed for London… so we’re having pies, mash and mushy peas in fond remembrance. Need to pay another visit soonest. xo

A year, Cole! I can hardly believe that. The Scotia Bar and a night fine enough to sit out in later. Where has the year gone? Think I’ll make your dinner suggestion for tomorrow and have a pint/hauf to toast that lovely night. Big hugs to you and the lad.x

What, no chocolate! A real celery lover? Maybe if I knew what cheez wiz was (difficult to say!) I might warm to celery. Or not. Not while there are cocoa beans. A mature cheddar, though, and chocolate. Now there’s a combo. 🙂

Hey I like the sprouts too! A home make cheese sauce and I love them! Now I believe that chocolate is made from cocoa beans and beans are a vegetable and vegetables are good for you, so . . . .chocolate is good for you!

Calling all sprout lovers! Come out of the closet now! Our time has come! After the sprouts and cheese sauce we’ll celebrate our liberation with chocolate. 🙂

Wonderful! I think the dark chocolate calls the most.

Hmmm, toss up between dark and milk, depending on my mood. I’ll just have both. In a box. With my name on it. 🙂

Oh shoot, sorry momus…thought for a moment I had stumbled upon Chocolate’s Anonymous and a round table of stories about ‘How You Were Driven To ‘Chocolate’ ‘ 😀
At least the stories got calmer and all are now dedicated veggie eaters…except poor Beth…you’ve driven her back into hiding in the closet (pantry) 🙂

Chocolate? Take it or leave it, personally. A nice HobNob, on the other hand…

Crumbly, dry and needs a gallon of tea to get down?! Come on, Chris, smooth is where it’s at. No playtime lasts long enough for a Hobnob. 😉
