punitive January swallows
aquamarine dreams
arrhythmic sadness
in its season while
calendar new hung
awaits tentative
cursive flourishes
resisting the tepid
and the cold
affirming anew
tomorrows with
each box promising
hope’s pulchitrude
we begin as always
on first foot

Cleverly written, Anne-Marie. Don’t think your planner will stay blank for too long though!

I did like the idea of the calendar awaiting cursive flourishes……mine has flourishes but they are more scrawl than cursive…..great images you have created…

I love handwriting on a clean page A fine black pen and smooth paper – shiver. 🙂

Well I’m glad you’ll never get to see my scrawl….the beauty of word processes isn’t it they hide so much…

And I’d love to write with a pen on the screen. The typing speed’s improving though. 🙂

Goodness no. My American friends tell me my accent is hard to understand but my handwriting would be gobblygook.

You must love your PC even more than I do mine then. Think I’ll go and do a spot of calligraphy now. You’ve put me in the mood! 🙂

Good luck our conversation has not motivated me rather made me more grateful for my computer. Years ago before computers when I was working and sent written stuff to the office to be typed I’d be called down to decipher a word or two I had written. You see computers put a stop to all that….a plus for me…lol….have a good day.

You know, this is a great poem and I enjoyed reading it very much … the only thing that perplexes me are the swallows in winter…

Ah! Silly me! Of course here swallows is the verb! I’m a tad slow today I’m afraid.

What a cute calendar. Love the challenge and the way you artfully met it. Clever use of what could be just a simple language but becomes an oil painter’s brush in your imagination, Anne-Marie. A great way to start my 2016 here.
