These are lyrics to a tune that popped into my head on the way to work this morning. Can’t get it out of my brain now. And I’m wondering if it’s even my own tune. Ever do that? I have another one that my kids think belongs to some Disney movie but have no idea which. I think they’re havering but I can’t be sure because it feels familiar to me after singing it so many times. If I wake up humming it again, it’s mine.
What happened to the music while we danced
While we danced
What happened to the music while we danced
What happened to the graceful glide
The simple moves we didn’t hide
What happened to the music while we danced
What became of breathing while we danced
While we danced
What became of breathing while we danced
Where the fields of open doors
The honesty of earthen floors
What became of breathing while we danced
Wherever did we go while we danced
While we danced
Wherever did we go while we danced
Disappeared like so much rain
Forgotten drops, fragmented pain
Wherever did we go while we danced
Shall we dance again in that old style, in a while
Shall we dance again in that old style
Elegant and erudite, embrace once more by kinder light
Shall we dance again in a while
What happened to that world where we danced
While we danced
What happened to that world where we danced
A simpler ball inside no walls
One sky protecting one and all
What happened to that world after we danced
Oh, what happened to our world, how we’ve danced
wonderful. now I want to hear it with the music 🙂

I’ll give it a go this weekend probably. It’s a nice long one. 🙂

Very good momus, maybe your learning the art of listening to spirit 🙂
Most of my ‘chats’ are at that very first inkling of waking up, I stay there and just put it out there or ask a question.
But beware, sometimes its better than being awake when the beauty of that connection touches 😀

I think it’s mostly when I’m not aware of thinking at all, Mark. 4a.m. is a favourite time, first thing in the morning, last thing at night or in the shower. Not really pondering anything then, pop!

Perfect momus, 24 hr muse! 😀
That is exactly what we all need to do…let go of everything AND spirit/Higher self etc can come through….you’ve got it down pat momus, an old hand at it with the frequency of your posts 🙂

A lovely lyric, quite happy in its melancholy. Looking forward to hearing this sung!

I’ll probably have a bash at a recording of it, Chris and see how it sounds. That’s if the tune is actually mine.

I love the fact you’ve created a whole song not just a line or two.

It only started with a line that just grew, Tric. By the time I got to school I had to sing it straight into my phone in case I would forget the words or the tune. It’s usually in the shower it happens and I’ve to keep repeating it till I can get to a pen.

Amazingly beautiful! Creativity overflowing out of a brilliant mind, at a time when it is most unexpected, probably? 😉

With or without a tune, elegant, lyrical, vivid.
