The Perfect Storm

Her certainties are vague and always fleeting, dissembled by a will that’s not her own, her thoughts, though rogue, are always so compliant, this the woman cast in role, she must atone, for something that she’s unaware of doing, for being just a woman here on earth, no ladette this, no bloke, no guy, no rugged master, simply born as female, lost, alone.

Watch her work it out that she’s done nothing, nothing more than black or white or gay, observe her as she claims her own potential, watch and wait, she’ll realise and have her say.

Biblically, she’ll clamour for the wild side, back to nature, earth and Gaia birthed, stand at ready, watch the elemental, working in the flesh and soil, rebirth.

See her rooted back to where she came from, note the stature, see the tree within, growing new limbs, sending where they’re willing, this is she, this is not a he or him.

Woman, by her very nature, growth and nourishment she will provide, intrinsic to her sex, and damn proud of it, watch and see her claim her wilder side.

Time was had and time was spent in waiting for hunter to provide the unit’s needs, they left, they fought, became distracted, forgot the reason why, the mouths to feed.

Woman waited, woman worried, wondered, what the fuck and why the hunter late, discovery of distraction, from the purpose, declared the hunter useless as a mate.

Hear the lioness, the mighty mother, hear the elephant, the whale, the mom, want to see a world in all its glory, give woman time, await the perfect storm.

Letting Light In

Brick by brick we built the walled protection,

Apertures, slit-crossed, for more defence,

Moated lakes surrounding valued castles

Or maybe simple whited picket fence.

Bit by bit we fenestrated wider,

Casements swinging freely to the air,

Still the walls enclosed, obscuring vision,

Justified, of course, for need of lair.

One day, perhaps, when bastions are French-glazed,

Doors that open wide, encircling, global round,

Maybe then the arrows will be quiver’d,

Eureka moment, Archimedes proud.

Contenders

Flew atop cloaked mountain peak,

Ozone-succoured breath,

Weighted wings, view too steep,

Headlong, certain death.

Rendezvous with eagle there,

Chastised love forbids,

Stumbled step on heaven’s stair,

Inhuman sought rebirth.

Feathered fall, angel trips,

Teardrops form as ice,

Canyon echoes empty lips,

Heights to precipice.

All for naught, a chorus cried,

Relinquished for one kiss,

Fallen wings, to hell descends,

Temptation’s dark abyss.

Eagle soars from vantage point,

Dives with all surrender,

Angelic thus to human anoint,

Sinless, soul contenders.

Blips, You See

It’s just a blip you observe on the radar screen of life,

Blinking near, though far off, can be gauged,

Alerting with sound – a beep – nothing more,

Present but not central to the stage.

The battle is raged from a distance, you see,

No one’s hurt for no one sees the war,

Just a signal  or two between two or a few,

Pulsating but not revealing more.

It’s a secret, you see, though poorly concealed,

It’s written in the stars and in the clouds,

It’s written on the walls, messages revealed,

Interpreted by dreamers who’re allowed

To read what is there, discerning of eye,

Of their hearts and what’s etched upon their souls,

Magnifying bleeps, words and symbols so seen,

Directing them further towads their goals.

It’s the goals, can’t you see, that present so much strife,

Distorted in hist’ry and by lies,

Content unremembered, misinterpreted for aim,

Truth garnered only by the willing spies

And some who recall the way it once was

And some who believe how it should be,

It’s just a blip, can’t you see, in the passage of our time,

A different timepiece, ticking history.

Warriors

Warriors bleed

heroic silence,

under-armed,

dismissed

by fate,

they wait.

Their time comes,

with peace or violence,

imbuing

inner strength,

no longer

bait.

In history and myth

their names

are legend,

numberless

from lands

both far and near,

woven into

tapestry

of folklore.

Truth emerges.

Warriors

overcome their fears.

Valkyries, Vampires And Victims Of Vile Visions

Lay down, warriors, to demi-gods,

you are chosen.

Let virgins feed

all needs

with meal and mead.

Valkyrie tapestry

depicts your future

while vampires

curse and urge

desire to bleed.

Victims of their visions,

you are welcome

in Valhalla’s halls

for dying

in the field.

Vile mastery,

treachery to living.

Lay down, now,

die,

display you yield.

Mothers’ Eyes

Reposes she

With cheeks and brow so fair

Image framed

By skeins of flaxen hair

Puckered lips

Forming glowing pout

Recumbent God

Seen without one doubt

Lashes flutter

In dreams of golden flight

Tucked into bed

Safe love secures her night

No demons here

No haunted childhood psyche

A child at rest

All should have her like

Portraits of injured innocence

Suffuse my working hours

Souls may keen

At battles without power

A helping hand

From those who know the just

Love them all

As adults we most surely must

A little one

Though worldly without wise

Compassion demands

We see all through mothers’ eyes.

Ashes Of Peace

Ashes of peace,

Treaty entreated,

No phoenix to

Surface in flight.

End of the conflict,

Gives no concord,

Truce settled for less

Than they might.

Divergence of interest,

No contradiction,

Consistent

In their discord.

Battle still rages,

Though behind lines,

Neither believes

One word.

Fear and mistrust,

Goodwill gone astray,

Ceasefire may last

For a while.

Without true intention,

A closer inspection,

No solution.

No style.

In Glory They Shine

Undaunted he rides on creature with wings

Head thrown back, from true heart he sings,

Banner aloft, a symbol of power,

Challenging the beast, for this is his hour –

Misery and heartache he brings.

Struggle ensues in stars’ endless night,

Clashes almighty! A furious fight!

Mounts of giant standing keep to their pace,

Enabling each rider to take part in this race –

This marathon for forthcoming light.

Brilliance looks on, each heavenly body,

Shimmering with excitement, for these two embody

The battle that wages out here in this ‘hood,

Death is success for the bad or the good –

Mercy shown for nobody.

Years pass in combat, blood flows from the sky,

Drips to the earth and burns you and I,

Venom from one with viperish tongue,

Hooded and ready he sprung –

To the heart of hero forbye.

Evil was winning and good hung from his steed,

Victim too worthy but ready to bleed,

He looked all around in desperate plea

To stars in the galaxies, that’s you and that’s me,

And they responded, paid heed.

Mustering all mighty strength they maintained,

They breathed forth their power, in good’s name proclaimed,

Light will battle with darkness, it’s true,

One is enough, but many is better than few

So goodness may be blessed and ordained.

It’s true what I tell, it’s the conflict of old,

Centuries written, millennia told,

Where two hearts of one man, divided by cause,

Wreak havoc and vengeance with weapons and claws

And declare to the world they are bold.

But bolder than man with blackest of heart

Is the radiance of heavens that shone from the start

Seeking to illumine where darkness prevails,

Appease understanding with light-infused tales

Of glories one day to impart.

Video reading  In Glory They Shine

All Our Children

My news is filtered these days,

By choice.

I cannot hear it, listen directly,

My voice

Would be choked and broken by

Tears of despair,

So I receive it, relayed

From I know who, I know where.

Identical moments of difference

Repeated,

Once felt and imbued,

Knows all life is cheated

When mongers of evil

Grasp the horns of their ask

And wickedly skip

To fulfil their grim task.

Drowned in a flood of heartbreaking stories,

Portrayed by some media

Voyeuristically,

They glory

In visuals and depictions of hell

I have seen,

Can’t watch it, can’t listen.

I know what they mean.

One story, one picture

Is all that I need,

Imagination and empathy

The rest provides and will feed

The words that I hear

In my head to shout forth,

‘Is that all that matters?

Is this our real worth?

As humans, as beings,

As souls here for a while?

The best we can do?

Some weep as we smile.’

I can’t unimagine

All that I have seen.

I wish that I could.

Do you know what I mean?

That visions of hurting

And hell so alive

Would end with great loving

So all could survive

To reach out, support

All. We are but child,

No matter persuasion.

True children are mild.

Not always in action,

I’m not that naïve,

But, in heart, where with loving

All dreams can conceive

A home-loving family,

A hearth to play by,

A meal on the table,

A mother nearby,

A father to guard

And protect our intention,

To grow close together.

And dare I just mention

That nations, though living

With minds far apart,

Share familial love

That springs from the heart?

Our greatest confusion then,

Seems so to say,

That my family matters

Much more than do they.

Lies. Lies.

Terrible lies.

Those who purvey them,

Life must despise.

Look at a child,

Look into its soul,

Watch as they play,

Is this really our goal?

To end such small humans

Before they should grow

Into the enemy

We fear but don’t know?

I hate this with passion.

I hate that we hate.

I hate that compassion

Is left at the gate

Of battlefield’s anger

And greed and distrust.

If fighting there has to be,

Why then can’t we just

Send one small David

And one giant Goliath.

Let them sort it out

With stones and with malice,

If that’s in their hearts

Well, fix it that way,

But as for the rest,

We just want to play

With children around us

Their trust in sweet eyes,

To teach them to love

Not hate or despise

Another world brother

Because they don’t feel

Exactly as we do.

Get over it. Let’s heal

The wounds of division

With pens and with words,

With kindness and mercy,

Not weapons or swords

That pierce at the breast

Of parents all over

While children flee,

In terror, for cover.

Oh, Spirit, please help us

To look with new love

To defeat source of evil

With strength from above.
