You took the sunshine with you when you left,
No moon beam can compare to solar flare.
Abrupt departure, feelings left bereft,
Expunged all oxygen from worldly air.
Reason for the harshness of your fleeting
Begs purpose for the life that all must know.
Pretence at love, hearts initial meeting
Cast out for doubt, one love now overthrow.
Behold the risk and grasp it when it calls
For wisps of time sweep chances underfoot,
Choices made in conscience subvert the fall
But poison; undernourish at the root.
Never was a love that only joy filled,
Never crop full-grown until earth first tilled.
