Mist drifted in on the west coast,
Haar settled in pockets the east,
From the north, a cold wind is blowing,
Heading south, uninvited from feast,
Through the haze that some see only slightly
Are the kent well, the lay of the land,
Known by the natives, e’en blindfold,
Accept or reject out of hand.
Enfranchise the right of all passage,
Not by whip nor by tactics, nor siege,
Heged no more as the sheep in the fiefdom,
Fog lifting, clear vision, the pledge.
Chill factors accounted, storm brewing,
Lamps lit and blinking onshore,
Winds rising, temperatures with them,
And voices of never, no more.
From every direction prevailing,
Scourge of the wrong of the right,
By the left, quell extreme, centripetal,
Cyclone of justice to fight.
Weather forecasting the future
Where shelter’d dominion lies,
Disbelieve the official meterological,
Look to the signs in the skies.
Memory in the touch that calls to reason,
Abstraction just a place where stars collide,
Disjointed dreams, some fraught with lesions,
Others merely shelter deep inside.
Some there are as pivot, giving warning,
Advancing cause, regulating mood,
Semblance of the real restored in morning,
Sonorous with wonder at all good.
Sleep adrift, in darkness, searching moonlight,
Inner eye to sky bestowed, in reach,
Rested in the present, gifted new sight,
How dreams in darkness touch, to lovers teach.
Elegance purveyed amid the chaos,
Confusion unconfessed so sweet absolved,
Bartered dreams, reality with no loss,
Unravelled theories, string unwound, life solved
On pillowcase near perfumed by your presence,
A touch to mind, to heart, to memories,
Kaleidoscope of visions void by essence
Of you beside, inside all drowned out tears.
On brilliant wings,
I sense your soul approaching,
as shards of glass
it rips through hidden veil,
renders all around
to shattered darkness,
blinding all, though
inner eyes prevail.
As some of you may know Scotland will have, on 18th September this year, the opportunity to vote for Independence from the UK. I have been mulling over the pros and cons. And I have been waiting for someone to say some of the things I feel and think about many different aspects of it.
In this video I heard it.
Not my most favourite person in the world but someone who calls a spade a feckin’ big shovel and is not afraid to do so.
Someone also who has long fought the corner of the ordinary person and has been vociferous in doing so.
The bigger picture though is that:-
Many of the issues I have with politics and those who claim to represent us were answered in this speech.
Many of the issues that affect us nationally and globally were addressed in this speech.
Many of the attitudes and greed and corruption, not to mention blindness and ignorance, that pervade politics were identified in this speech.
You may not agree with everything he says. I don’t either. But, by god, I agree with a lot of it.
A wake up call for Scotland. but perhaps also a wake up call for a wider audience.
I think I may have made my mind up at last.
Time yet for greater reflection. But who else will call the ‘tools’ into question with clarity so in your face. I need a dose of this in my politics and politicians.
Now Suz, you have nailed it, as a female with a mind,
Experience in womanhood. Men must seek and so they’ll find
That much of what a woman wants is tethered to the stars.
I know they say that we hail from Venus while men exist on Mars.
A cosmic soul comparison to highlight different spheres,
A lifetime spent in wondering, overcoming fears.
But planets should collide in space in some ethereal way
And, on earth, we bump together too but all men have to say, is
‘Darling, what’s your heart’s desire? Tell me, I will try.
I’ll promise love eternally and search until I die,
To overcome your subtleties, learn to read your clues,
Endeavour to be true all days, pay what is your due.
I’ll harness stars and catch the moon, remove obstacles in our path,
I’ll humour you when you are blue, I’ll try to make you laugh.
I’ll even buy you personals when Christmas comes along,
I’ll sing to you with lover’s voice and soothe you with my song.
Is that enough to win your heart? What more, please, pray me tell,
Guessing at your nuances, men don’t do that very well.’
Now that’s a start, if men are willing to read the woman’s book,
They’ll tell you if you really ask. And listen, that’s the hook.
‘You’ve said it all, that’s all I ask. Willingness to show,
Hidden voice within my head, you’re trying to understand and know.
Woo me with a sense of worth, seasons full of longing,
Ensure your heart is open wide, a place I may belong in.
Answer me in sentences, not cryptic yes or no’s.
We use our words expressively, while your dearth quite often shows
That what we’re trying to say to you goes right over your head.
Then we lose the plot at you and you wonder what you said.
The point you see is you don’t say much to express all that is real
You seem to think we should absorb, osmosis-like, what you feel.
To you, a word or two should do, a nod or gesture feint
To speak your love, exact desires. It doesn’t work! Not quaint!
Exactitude in what you feel, expressed in tender giving,
From heart and soul and mind as well; Woman’s way for living.
Just a thought or two for you. Hope it’s not too much.
That it doesn’t blow your mind wide open at all that mush and such
Anti-male, Jessie-like, entrapments for the ‘soft’.
Not soft at all but strength it shows; we’ll hold you so aloft
If all that you convey to us is done with purest love
And sensual thrown in, for good measure. That might just be enough!’
No more I’ll say. I’m telling you, women speak in heaps,
But not all we say is heeded, a pity, it would keep
Unnecessary confusion from cluttering up our way.
Openness and honesty might help to win the day.
Remember though that truthfulness, although a wondrous gift,
Should not be used when she asks, ‘Does my bum look big in this?’
A gentle smile, no smirks, not wise, if you want to keep your teeth.
See, it’s all quite easy. Next question, if you please!
http://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/photo-challenges/
Forgive my awful illustration….I don’t do photos. Any photos on my blog will most certainly have been taken by someone else. Really must learn how to take some. Hope my poem says more than my ‘photo’….just thought I had to put something in to qualify for the challenge. 😉
Alternatively, I could do what I did before and ask you to envisage the photo in your mind. Here we go. The cosmos – Hubble pic – existing in your mind while life takes you on a journey of discovery and warps your perceptions as it unfolds. Chaos ensues. But life and love and choices make for greater clarity and …..eventually…..matter becomes clearer.
Don’t really need to bother with the poem now. Bugger!
Oh here it is anyway.
I’m getting me a camera!
Birth ends waiting.
New life from death.
Destruction preceding
Creation.
Phases evolving,
Conceptions
And believing.
Pain
Stages
For everyone.
Mists concealing
Embroiling, rolling
And revealing
Beginnings,
Transformations,
Changes of
Choices.
And Being.
I have an inbox in my brain
And sometimes mail arrives
Formed, complete, ready to publish.
It’s quite a nice surprise
To not to think the thoughts aloud,
To know subconscious endeavour.
Ping! It comes and I awake.
I just may sleep forever!
Misty haze arise at last,
Descend not on my brow,
A clearer future so to grasp
Begins the here and now
Though harsher days are softened so
By seeing through a mist,
Clarity needs illumination
So path may not be missed.
Decided to dance a little deeper in life, and wow can spirit dance!
Adventures to beguile you, worlds to enchant you.
