Rocking Friday

I’m having a night off tonight, I am,

It’s been a long week at chalk face,

Cabernet Sauvignon’s ready to pour

And there’s a movie I’ll watch for his grace…

Not really a fan of blood and of gore,

Hallowe’en’s just really for weans,

But I’ll risk some vampires and hunters as well

For his eyes and a dose from his veins.

Van Helsing is playing tonight on the screen,

Well, really, it’s Hugh that I covet,

But at a pinch, I’ll put up with the blood,

Suck it up and hope that I love it.

I rarely do movies it has to be said,

Not much a fan of the box,

But with glass held in hand and feet on the couch,

I’ll suffer ‘cos Hugh Jackman rocks. 😉

On Hallow’s Eve

On Hallow’s Eve,
      Some believed,
             Souls went marching home
                     While ghosts and ghouls
                               Haunted evening skies,
                                         Howling, evil moans.

Time has passed
          So now, at last,
                  Other forms it takes.
                             Some become Incredible,
                                       Others adapt
                                                   And costumes make.

Little Bo Peep
          Has become a deid creep,
                  Ghoulish in all nature
                            Impaling lamb
                                    On crook with glee,
                                            Evil now in stature.

Humour and a devilish joy
Man and woman, girl and boy,
Embracing darkness
For a night,
Invoking fear,
And delightful fright!

Shadows

I’m actually feeling fine! Just going with the doom and gloom of Hallowplunker. In case you were worried. 😉 Gonna depress the hell out of myself before this event appears. Skip on by if you’re already depressed. You don’t need this. Good deed done for the day. 🙂

Shrouded in a gloom

Of endless misery,

Darkened, black night

Deforms

Substance, reality.

Confused,

Distorted

Observations,

Acuity of eyes

And thoughts

Dimmed,

Concealed.

Nothing revealed,

Shrouded in a gloom

Of endless misery

And shadows.

Errant Blood

Hallowe’en theme. Gotta go with the flow. 😉

Errant blood

Flows,

Arterial currents

Streaming,

Gushing,

Surging

To relief.

Death

Urges,

Pronounces,

Decrees,

Proclaims

Such

Dire unbelief.

Love fakes,

Defiles,

Scorches.

Souls

Cindered.

Death,

A sterling thief.

Celebrations

If there’s one thing that is really fine about having a larger than average family (and, seriously, there is more than one fine thing), it is the number of celebrations we get to enjoy.

We have the usual: Christmas, Easter, Hallowe’en, Guy Fawkes (have reservations on this one),Hogmanay, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s day, Father’s Day, Wedding Anniversary, May Day, Landemer Day, the Fair Fortnight (which rarely is) and, of course, birthdays.

With nine birthdays a year plus associated boyfriends/girlfriends/fiancés/extended family we, as a family, eat a lot of cake.

We pretty much cover every month of the year, at least once.

So, we’ve got lots to celebrate.  Lots of indoor parties.

Which is just as well, ‘cos the weather is shite!
