Sounds Apt

One there was that danced upon the surface

Seeking honoured place to rest and let it be

Dedicated to communication

Prepared to work alone or company

To singular intention caught in heartbeat

Rhythm born intrinsic in its sound

Worked its way along the lines of empty

Espied its niche and settled right way round

Others clambered to be party to this

Festive wake where all sounds go to lie

Rejoicing in the mini death from random

Found a better place to conjure why

Purpose to existence in their being

Favoured by the one who may not know

Whether each and every grapheme chosen

Will do their job well, meaning to bestow

Rest ye well all phonics torn from alpha

Through omega, all that serve between

Many are there waiting, be not ill-used

Repose, post work, to know that you have been

Picked before all others still awaiting

Skill by some more gifted, all must wait

Practise while you work upon the forming

Perhaps some day may praise at well-placed state

Characters that haunt with saddest weeping

Shadows of the words they could have been

Spectred to ill-chosen, used and destined

To roam forever dwelling might have beens

Words evasive, parted soul from symbol

Vacant shells now cast adrift to face

The artifice of empty, this their fate flawed

Selected, misappropriated waste

In phrases, chosen chasms that despoil them

How can any cast thus find in name

Any sound or timbre worth their purpose

Poor letters, never stamped but sent the same

No one ever will recall their passing

Too many of their siblings chosen best

Selected by a wisdom quite elusive

While shallow markings never etched true worth.

Still the sounds browse up and down for tempo

Seeking yet their place upon the map

Desire for destination in their searching

Union with all others for sounds apt.

Elemental Daughter

She can tell, by turns, which way the world blows,

Lips to air, deep breaths, she tastes, she knows,

Lets the Kaver finger hair and loose clothes,

Mistral rushes through her channelled pores.

She nor’westers within stones long risen,

Empower’d by the buffets in between,

Dances there with deities all borne in that scene,

Feels the pressure, coriolis weaned.

She can rise from rivers, balance water,

Atomic weights, compound all they to her,

She’s the breath, the elemental daughter,

Born, released and free forever more.

Crazy sort of lady is the folk lore,

Witch upon the wind and on the moors,

Bathing in the floods of fire and aether,

Shower’d, she of air, she lives and pours

Flesh to life and soul to all around, rotating,

Twirling dervish, live unto the end,

Controls and calms, by turns, all elements about her,

Every waft of current is her friend.

Listen when she speaks through thunder’d prisms

Wrap yourself in bounty born within,

She curls around all feelings, depths and chasms,

Feel her dancing, daughter of the wind.

Surcease

Wonder,

in the shadow of the moonlight,

calls you near me,

child bereft of toy and worldly joy,

hearkening to music in the starlight,

cherubic voices promising, as a chorus,

a sweeter love,

all moments to enjoy

an earthbound pleasure,

in the joy of angels,

a muted fear,

trumpet blast to ease,

seclusion,

in the bosom of all music,

oblivion, in harmony,

surcease.

Bespoken

The story ended

Right

Where apt beginning should have been,

They pretended

Not

To have dreamt or been or seen all they had seen.

Souls suspended

Just

As nightmare turned into the dream,

Lives upended

Breaks

The charm when nothing’s as it seems.

Grief, distended,

Cries

The tears that fill the seas and streams,

Hope intended

In

Heaven’s harmony that hoves between.

Lives pretended,

Wasted

Esssence of the might have been,

All life offended,

Sorry

Fuelled in furnace of obscene.

Love has mended

Futility,

Despair that robs serene,

Hands extended,

Giving

Self, bespoken, intervenes.

Footprints

Reading some blogs I follow today I came across seven words from this one that jumped out at me. What follows is the result of those words.

Tread lightly and lovingly

upon the earth,

Balletic strength in honed

resistance.

Rise high above

the heavy hand,

Mother wreaks her own

persistence.

Tread lightly and lovingly

upon the earth,

Tip-toe through glens

and glades.

Hold hands and soar above

unscorched,

Partner’d faith to light

and shade.

Tread lightly and lovingly

upon the earth,

Inherent land mines

lie

In fissures, faults and

weaknesses,

She breathes

a weary sigh.

Tread lightly and lovingly

upon the earth,

Her balance guides

the day.

Her storm of fury

in excess

Demands

another way.

Tread lightly and lovingly

upon the earth,

Night’s end should

herald morn.

Tread lightly and lovingly

upon the earth,

Erred footprints

trample dawn.

Shall We Dance?

Will you dance the tango with me

And make me forget all life’s woes,

Hold your cheek close to mine, rough to soft

While I clench in my teeth a red rose?

Will you waltz me around until dawn

In a ballroom where only we two belong

Skirting floor edge to edge in grand sweeps

While orchestra plays our love song?

Will you Charleston and laugh as we flap

Giddy moves, all dressed to the nines,

Flirt outrageously, pose to the world

While forgetting all sad other times?

Will you twist me and turn me around,

Shake hips with luscious desire,

Berate the baleful and bored

While hearts are consumed by our fire?

Will you strip the willow with me,

Hear the skirl as I spin in your arms,

Skip up each line, reuniting in time,

While you succumb to all of my charms?

Will you rock and roll if they play,

And twirl me in jauntiest jive,

Laughing loudly at moves that we make

While you reassure me I’m still alive?

Will you boogie to disco, though crass,

Strut your stuff to show your emotion,

Remembering how those years were filled,

While new times inspire true devotion?

Will you pogo and romp if I smile

And suggest that we always must dance,

Partaking of life with its music to rouse

While we serenade this, our last chance?

Will you hold me for slowest of tunes

As the night draws to close and we sway,

Will you promise to be the dance of my life

While the music ebbs, fades away?

As One

Strength will lend a voice

Amid noise and confusion.

In weakness, valour may dare.

In weakness, valour may dare

Scale mountains, fly freely

While fear still crushes bones.

While fear still crushes bones

And innards liquefy,

Fight or flee is chosen.

Fight or flee is chosen

Instinctively, unconsciously.

Protection and survival the aim.

Protection and survival the aim

Of life – to adapt, change,

Signify and glorify the spirit within.

Signify and glorify the spirit within,

Rejoicing in source and unity,

Recognising, in awe, invisible threads that bind.

Recognising, in awe, invisible threads that bind,

Drawing one to another, connecting the edges,

Expanding, creating anew the whole.

Expanding, creating anew the whole,

Intricately woven and bound,

Harmonised, synchronised, complete.

Fusion

Some are entrenched in immutable mode

And keep their eyes blinkered ahead on the road.

Others decry all depths of matter

And throw the baby out with bath water.

Superseding notions are all very well

And ideas, progressive, can find places to dwell.

If old marries new and blesses the union

Some harmony exists in this grafted fusion.

But crushing the past causes greatest confusion,

Beliefs left bereft for a newer delusion.

No secretive, unwritten code.
