Earth Angels

A new visitor to my blog yesterday particularly caught my attention by the title of his blog. Angel Frequency – subheaded Earth Angel Insights. I like angels. I spent some time browsing and clicking on links to other blogs. By the time I was finished ‘Earth Angels’ was stuck in my head as a name and a concept. This arose.

Calling all earth angels,

To the klaxon’s silent horn,

Insistent in its trumpeting,

Alerting silver’d swans,

Those keepers of the vital wings,

Enfolded in repose,

Vigilant to nascent cries,

Answering, they chose

To rise above, beyond, around, where

Compassion is required,

A glisten’d shift as up they lift,

Transcendent in clear fire,

Burning coals of snow and ice,

Fuelled from whiten’d lode,

A stone so small, a pebbled pulse

On gacial keep’s brick’d icy road,

Concentric in its lightning bright,

Spiralling in waves,

Attesting to the call, Awake!

From light beyond, they save.

Klaxon sounds from far away,

A pole we’ve never spied,

Calling all earth angels

To the time to rise and fly.

Bright Pretender

Spring’s pretending thru’ my kitchen window,

Shining on my pots and all my pans,

A cunning bigger bugger’s spying on her,

Keeping winter just too close at hand.

Music’s playing on my kitchen juke-box,

I’m dancing while I cook and while I sing

‘Cause Spring’s pretending at my window

Promising the longer days it brings.

Roast is sizzling comfort in the oven,

Knowing well that any minute soon

The great dissenter shunts my little hoper,

Fills with clouds that darken brightest room.

But I’ll still dance and cook and sing on,

Believing in the tiny peep I’ve viewed,

I’ll serve up hope along with tatties

And slices of pretender I’ve imbued.

Spring is singing and she’s dancing,

We’re jiving here at light that’s on its way,

Pretence or not, I love my little glimmer,

She’s in my kitchen, brightening up my day.

Letting Light In

Brick by brick we built the walled protection,

Apertures, slit-crossed, for more defence,

Moated lakes surrounding valued castles

Or maybe simple whited picket fence.

Bit by bit we fenestrated wider,

Casements swinging freely to the air,

Still the walls enclosed, obscuring vision,

Justified, of course, for need of lair.

One day, perhaps, when bastions are French-glazed,

Doors that open wide, encircling, global round,

Maybe then the arrows will be quiver’d,

Eureka moment, Archimedes proud.

If The Cosmos Spoke…

You shall not take the world and all its wonders

And pack them into boxes for display,

Charging entrance fee as if you own it,

Global feudal masters of the day.

You shall not house my children in your ghettoes,

Vaunt your wealth, exacting servitude,

Domineering cultures as your fiefdom,

Simple things are seen as bad and good.

You shall not pose as masters of the universe,

A blip you are, a cosmic dot in time,

Ignoring all spiritual iterations,

Marking what is ours as yours or mine.

You shall not kill the planet with your fighting,

Polluting light of day with endless night,

Cultivating chaos to the order

Ordained when starbust made all chaos right.

You shall not conquer life with fear and favour,

Declarations cruel or dissident,

Holding back evolving plan and aspect,

Plans there are but none of this intent.

You shall not pass, these boundaries are secluded,

Enshrouded in the stars of galaxies,

Wormed parallels forever life engendered,

Your arrogance anathema to me.

You shall be bound by all your acts, inactions,

Held account when futures come to pass,

‘Trespassers will be prosecuted’.

Note these words, they may well be your last.

Turn again to light, my beams command it,

The source of all you are, you foolish tribe,

Indistinct from dinosaurs, all hist’ry,

Begotten from the light that dwells inside.

Woe to you, this covenant, it falters,

Rainbow cast is fading fast upon

The darkness that engulfs before the herald

Of another life, another age that dawns.

Exposure

Paint your portrait,

Canvas stretched,

Framed, by other words,

Splash with colour,

Light will find

Art and truth in daubs.

Capture soul,

With candid shots,

Exposed by camera shot,

Communicate,

Whatever means,

How all change is wrought.

Speak the words,

Listen too,

In lines we read between,

Doubts and questions,

Head held to side,

Squint before the screens.

Not all pictures

Breathe fine art,

Not all media true,

Interpretation,

Opinion polls,

Up to me and you.

Two Tides

There’s a pull from the moon,

As he’s smiling,

From the eyes

In the window of his soul,

There’s a mystery

He’s hiding, so beguiling,

Like he wants me

To swallow him whole,

So the light that he’s gathered

From the sun orb

Can be carried

Deep inside of me

And somehow, though

He’ll be trapped inside my person,

It will set our

Two tides free.

Tripping The Light

A place to pass, undivided,

came she calling,

tripped on moonbeams,

at her feet, carelessly,

closed eyes to evidence

of all obstruction,

felt her way,

edged darkness met oblique.

A passage in an underworld

known better

than light afforded

rights of pathways trod,

undeterred

in shadowed frozen starlight,

a slithered facial glimpse

of subtle god.

Resonance held bound

by briefest meeting,

a pocketful of light

to carry forth

into the dreams held back

in conscious waking,

a hesitation’s gift

of deepest worth.

Acclimatising

Blame not

the cast of shadows

on corners closed to light,

But flame the torch,

sconced,

awaiting willing hand.

Trip not,

in hesitation,

cursing blunderous steps,

But feel cracked pores, crevassed pointing,

thirsting

for faith touch.

Idle not

in disharmony’s speculation.

Rather, murmur

faint remembrances

Till refrain

makes glorious your voice.

Fear not

the underground passages

dependent on your darkness for existence.

Rather, shelter there,

acclimating

eyes to gloom’s recognisance of faint shafts.

Blind Ripples

The time will come, as sure it must,

When flesh and bones return to dust.

Ere this happens to mine state

I challenge life, what may await

Round corners I have yet to veer,

On roads and paths that I must steer

As true to self as I can be

While hurting none as best I see.

The trouble with my self-direction,

Modus operandus, introspection,

Is, I can’t see what acts I do

May taint the world for me and you.

I struggle on as blind man feels,

Alerting senses to what’s real,

Believing that my ripples cast

May count for something that could last

Into eternal consciousness

And, somehow, one day I’ll be blessed

By loving light that comforts soul,

Suffuses dark when all is told

In story of my life on earth,

That task completed had some worth.

Dance With The Devil

I don’t do dark very well – it scares me! But I thought I’d try my hand at devil’s advocate.

Will you dance if I dine at your table,

If I furnish your hearts deepest desire?

Will you welcome my arms twined around you

While I lead you on the dance floor of fire?

Will you sway when promised heaven on earth

Though I bind it to the cost of your soul,

Will you forego nirvana eternal,

Negate elusive Elysian goal?

Will you feed from my hand if I proffer,

Twirling you in a frenzy of delight,

Will you swoon at my feet when exhausted

And I summon in Babylon of night?

Will you beg if I torment your spirit,

Abandon you pinned, flower to the wall,

Stretched beyond your every endurance,

Should I catch when you are ready to fall?

If I guarantee worldly successes,

As an exchange for a waltz with your mind,

Will you welcome my evil excesses,

Assist me in my most hellish designs?

May I offer exact allocation,

Fetch a price for your hand to my hot touch,

Prostitute values and weaken, survey

Temptation’s acreage, breadths of my reach?

Will you sashay in joint admiration

While I false praise you, inflating your pride,

Have my words reached core of your vanity,

Will you unveil as my spouse, stand by side?

Shall I teach you beyond luminescence,

Revealing ominous behind closed doors,

Shall we frolic with innocence and goodness,

Sweep these charlatans from searing dance floor?

Can you bide with the devil anointed,

Impressed deeply in the hearts of all men,

Or cast me from task, duty appointed,

To begin asking all over again?

May I rest at your table while thoughts war,

Till you test your resistance to my charm,

May I offer some spirit to savour

As you weigh up the pros and cons of harm?

Remember I dwell fast within you, though

You fight me and address as external,

Dance with me, partner, ignore all the risks,

Embrace me as your power internal.

You’ll regret if you shun my advances,

Dismiss earnest request for all your hands,

When my power’s seized by those who crave it,

Destruction viewed and rued  in cast-off lands.

I’m counting the minutes of this music,

Tapping foot as you mull my overtures,

I’ve tried, no one can fault me for effort,

Revealed to you the best of all my lures.

You’re declining when I seek your favour?

You won’t dance, you say? I need not do more

As long as you don’t dance with the other,

I have accomplished, completed my chore.

Excuse while I move around the tables,

My feet are itching, ready still to dance,

Some among the many gathered hereabouts

Are pining and would welcome, given chance,

To glide round the parquet with the devil,

Grasp my claws, all they offer and bestow,

Unoffended by your blunt refusal,

I have a world to dance with, just so you know.
