By Tooth And Nail

You may write of death, destruction and the dance of seven veils

behead the lies when witnessing pursuit of holy grail

shear the locks of strongest men, deliver their entrails

mine and carry samsonite discovered on the trail

You may scourge systemic flattery that panders while it fails

preserve with crystalled clarity the darkest told of tales

fixate upon minutiae, recalling all details

and balk at circumvention upon the grandest scale

You may write with licensed freedom if no power pressed wholesale

investigate impartially and never truth curtail

bring to public notice and with honesty prevail

integrity of stewardship when sworn by tooth and nail

By Her Side

Carry forth on angel wings the needs I bring before you,

By light, your dynasty, to her provide,

Make feather-light her troubles and her sorrows,

I need you now to be close by her side.

In absence of my presence be her friend there,

Envelop her in love and bring her ease,

Cushion soft her blows, I need this from you,

Expectant faith I have so hear my pleas.

Shelter her from more of life’s hard taskings,

Enough is more than anyone can bear,

Be near her now and comfort, hug her closely,

Hold her gaze and let her see me there.

Light upon her, give her joy, I’m asking,

Tenderness where lack has been long gone,

Carry forth on angel wings the needs I bring before you,

Be her strength for me till she’s made strong.

Reformed

Vent and as

you drown me

in your anger

disillusionment

and sorrows

I’ll erupt

in bubbles

float

to mountains

skylines

and beyond

or sink

beneath

the waves

in oceans’ hidden

depths to dwell

awhile

where cacophony

is only

whale song

to plug

my oozing ears

and when

outer limits reached

blot

all excess

I’ll be reabsorbed

and fall again

liquidity

Guddling

Trash! Smash balderdash,

Gibberish, all mish-mash,

Masquerading as the news.

Fiction, facts, we’re owed the truth.

Pish! Posh, all that dosh,

Dishing dirt, a load of tosh,

Captivating, cunning plan,

Doled out fodder for wee man.

Big man runs the well-oiled wheels,

Sleight of hand, we watch, he steals,

Steam, press, turn, depress with force,

One-sided justifies divorce.

Free to question, new release,

Biased brethern, big bro’ pleased.

Watch little man as he cuts chains,

Asking why, alive again.

Hubble, bubble, all this trouble,

Got our countries in a guddle.

Ickle, tickle, brand new hatch,

Easy-peasy, stand by, catch.

Fishy fish, caught with intent, by

Fishermen with hearts well meant.

Then we can fry them with some garlic and a lovely lemon zest. Hmmhmm. Smack!

Our Song

It’s possibly true there are no answers, just questions that abound.

At least that’s how it seems, sometimes. I’ve questioned then I’ve found

That nothing makes a lot of sense and even when it does

Shit happens for no reason. I wonder then because,

If I can’t make the heads or tails of all that’s going on,

What chance is there I get to sing my own special song?

We all have one, I have no doubt, a song made just for one,

Born with us and grown with us; desperate to be sung.

A harmony, that only we, can hear within our soul,

Hummed in time to all we do, trying to make us whole.

Listen well. I’ll listen too and maybe we will hear

The lyrics and the melody, pitched to make us cheer

At all the ways we can express what lies way deep inside.

Then maybe, we may fine-tune life and sing our song with pride.

A Golden Key

And truth will set you free, they say,

Its golden key releases,

Swiftly turned in oiled lock,

Veracity always pleases.

Candour knows integrity,

It smiles on honest faces,

Liberation gained in verity,

Humanity embraces.

Unfurnished news, some basic facts,

Journal of sincerity,

A welcome change, when all is open,

Revealed with certainty.

Simple facts proclaimed just so,

Legitimate, exact,

Discharge and so emancipate

Where freedom once was lacked.
