Innocence Injured

No callous thoughts

Nor cold intent

Should dwell where love’s

Been freely spent.

Unequalled pleasure

Can’t decry

Where love was known

Though, by and by,

Treasured moments

One time enthralled,

Glimpsed afar,

Now unrecalled.

Bitter hearts

Disclaim, with voice,

Past memories

As if no choice

Had taken part

In ending all,

Hostile relations

After the fall

From grace and trust

Where love was living,

Recollections

Unforgiving.

They passed this way,

Once hand in hand,

A surer love,

No wedding band

Could so unite

The two apart,

Where love once dwelt

Lives broken heart

And cordial calmness

Claims surrender,

Harsh words, contempt

Sever, dismember,

Leaving nought

But recollections,

Remembrances,

Bittersweet perfection.

Imperfect memory

Chills to the core

All treasured moments,

Never more.

Coupled collapsing

Feels dismay,

Abysmal distrust,

Love cannot stay.

They grieve their loss

In strangest manner,

Vindictive, cruel,

A jealous rancour.

These people are

Still known to me,

I watch

And listen carefully

And ponder how

A love once sown,

Grew then withered,

Split to the bone.

Words, then endearing,

Draw blood, now bitten,

Fragmented love

From two once smitten.

Divided, riven,

Torn apart,

Indifference chills

But where to start

When coldness turns

To malevolence

And hurts and robs

All innocence?

Make Haste

Suckers for love, all,

We give and receive.

Without it, mere nothing,

What would we believe?

A future unchallenged,

Unfounded, gone missing.

Love is a pleasure.

But then, so is kissing!

Sensory pleasures,

Love offers as such,

Enabling devotion,

Without it so much

Passion for loving

Would surely fall flat,

All work and endurance,

Nought wrong with that

Except that the adage says,

All work and no play

Makes Jack way too dull.

Well, Jill feels that way.

Uphill the struggle

Without all the hugs,

The kisses, caresses,

Our heartstrings, they tug.

No chapters or verses

In love’s fairy story,

Songs sung and melodies

Depict all the glory.

Sensations in mind

Surface to skin,

Heart coincides,

Wonder begins.

Eyes spark a light,

Words speak the truth,

Kissing, soft touching

Remind aged and youth

That senses unveiled,

Stroked in and without,

Love is the answer,

Of this have no doubt.

Uncovered in body,

More clearly in mind,

Thoughts seek their equal,

More surely to find

The one, with eyes closed

In darkness distinguish,

Light pursues light

Acknowledge, relinquish

Desire in all functions,

Bodies so mated,

Encapsulate all in

Manner created.

Wholesome, familiar

Comprehended, well known

Sought blindly, conceded

Accredited, full shown.

No pleasure in living

If love is not borne

All joy and happiness,

All zest, have been shorn.

Seek with eyes open,

Be ready to give

And receive, that’s important,

Make haste to live.

Friendship

How have I offended you?

In thought or word or deed?

A moment’s madness, surely?

For to hurt is not my creed.

A tender heart to suffer

At wrongs I may impose,

Please take this humble offering,

Please take, from me, this rose.

A wayward word, a cruel remark,

From proud and sinful heart,

When once the arrow flees the bow

It finds its chosen mark.

This rose, with thorns, I offer you

For friendship is a sword

Double-edged with kindness

And, shame, the hurtful word.

The Sweetest Revenge

The Sweetest Revenge

Pensive?

Persuasive?

Thoughtful?

And true?

One man

Loved a woman

This woman was you.

He wooed you

And won you

And called you his own.

He lay down beside you;

Your body, his throne.

Your fortress, his treasure.

Your lips,

His reward.

One facet elusive

One wonderful

Word.

His lines

He had spoken

His words were not true

Your heart he had broken

This woman was you.

The psyche that is sorrowed

When words are two-faced

Mourns tears of regret

And weeps for disgrace.

A mire of destruction

Wades woefully near.

Risking new fate

Fills the wound with true fear.

A soul in the night

Reaches out for new love

The cry of the anguished

Is heard on above.

A new spirit travels

On destiny bound

Seeks out his true lover

In you, he is found.

Healing ensues

With ecstasy won.

The sweetest revenge

Is a happiness song.
