Enter In Mirage

Where deserts undulate in moving landscape,

Come away, enter in mirage,

Penetrate hazed sandscape gathered round us,

Whirling golden pockets risen fast,

Ride to dusk in ship upon sands’ ocean,

Sunset beckons, razed relief from noon,

Pilot seas where storms arise grain-weathered,

Obliterate horizons come too soon.

Bow to enter tents, erected shelters, on

Holy ground, collapsed in shifting weights,

Follow dreams, red clouds’ appointed charter,

Abandon all reality at sand’s gate.

Hades On Horseback

What cloven horsemen ride upon the wind here,

Striking hooves on sharpened edge of waves,

Hunched and headlong, shrouded cloaks protecting,

Eyemasks glinting red? No fortune saves

Any in their path, though flight above us,

The heels of jeopardy are felt below,

Riding willfully to depths of nowhere,

Pistols drawn and daggers tucked to show

No enemy that’s found within their flightpath

Or foe espied, from fathoms far above,

Have hope or faith, outrunning is no option,

Bow’d their heads, and ours as sacrificial dove.

What earthly gate or hellish palace hides them

In daylight hours, these princes of the dark?

Where upon the shores of any peoples

Do black knights harbour steeds and stable mark?

Who betrays location as they search here,

Plots the points upon the charted graph?

Who drowns gladly in the tidal wave of hoofbeats

Pounding on while evil horsemen laugh?

Are any there who hear the fairground laughter,

The cackle of the master turning wheels

As rainbow-coloured equines carry minions,

The hounds of hell on horseback as night squeals?

From The Start

I was just making dinner. And then out pops this little lot. The whole thing feels more like a song than a poem. Although what is a song if not a poem set to music? I’m not editing this at all. Just as it came. And now humming a tune that may fit. Wish I played guitar. Have to let the subconscious work on a melody.  Hope it doesn’t feel too cheesy. That might be because of what I’m cooking. 😉

There’s history there for the taking,

We made it but let it grow cold.

Not one of those words I was faking

Tho’ the story is one often told.

Two souls that united but parted

While around us stormy winds blew.

How could I have known when it started

How much I’d grow to love you?

Now the breeze is balmy and steady

But the hurt lives on in my heart.

Tell me, my love, that you’re ready

To try again, make a new start.

No one can hurt like a lover

When the scars, though they fade, still ache.

There never will be another

While there’s a chance we may take.

Believe in the story that grew then,

Remember the times that we shared.

Take comfort in knowing you’re still chosen

And nothing can make me feel scared.

Now the breeze is balmy and steady

But the hurt lives on in my heart.

Tell me, my love, that you’re ready

To try again, make a new start.

How many loves have been lost to

Stories begun but collapsed

In a world where true love is too few

And questions are filled with perhaps?

Now I’m just a lost, lonely lover

With a story to tell just like you,

Secrets that some may uncover,

No story when love is still true.

For the breeze is balmy but steady

And our hurts live on in my heart

But I’m telling you, darling, I’m ready

To live again right from the start.

Drenched

Attempt at a Shakespearean sonnet.

Would rain cease to fall if our love ended?

Oceans and waterways parched into land?

Clear skies disclosed, cloudy days transcended,

Drought and aridity forced by fate’s hand?

Should sun bursts of loving, scattered and few,

Cast shadows on earth and thirst for all man,

Could we forgive any need to eschew,

Or safeguard future as best as we can?

Drenched in outpouring of heavenly storm

We gaze into blue and plead for release,

Monsoon’s donation absorbed without harm,

Entreaties to god to hear earnest pleas;

Tempests’ cascades to shower forever,

Flooding bank balance of deepest river.

Dark Lagoon

Delve where daring

Daunts all others,

Dive deeply, dark Lagoon.

Three-pronged attack, Trident’s way,

Coelacanthic gloom.

Tempest rages,

Tortures, troubles,

Tantamount to death.

Cleave to saving  rocks around,

Resist thoughts

That leave bereft.

Confusing calm

A placid status

On ocean’s surface seen.

Melee below,

Currents flow

Beneath the glassy sheen.

With fork transposed, inverted,

Waves toss vessels,

Cast away,

Flotilla persists

Where linked, resists,

Safely home to bay.

Arc Of Understanding

Rainbow arc

Hidden by clouds this rainbow,

Only a portion revealed,

Shades of light seen for a spell,

More often than not, though, concealed.

A glimpse of light in its splendour,

Multi-faceted hues. Like

Iceberg submerged by ocean so deep,

Clouds conceal all the clues.

Poached by encroaching darkness,

Storm clouds gather to quell

Hope represented by God-given sign,

Stark matter can do this so well.

Doomed to diminish in darkness,

Etched evanescence in skies

Disappears swiftly from unseeing eyes,

Photons buried in lies.

Luminosity destroyed by dullest of days,

Cast vision further afield.

There, by and by, different portion of sky,

Silver lining, ultimately, revealed.

silver lining

Submerged Skies

My response to the prompt. I wish I could see the heavens but…..

Heavenly wonders

Hidden behind storm clouded

Skies – waterfalls flow.
