Why Blog?

Sometimes people buy you flowers or give you chocolates if you’re feeling under the weather. My brother set up a blog page for me. He is obviously fed up with me not ‘getting my writing out there’. He doesn’t even know if it’s any good. He’s never seen or heard any of it. Few people have. But I’ve been writing for years and do nothing with it. It was always just my own thoughts and feelings about me and my life and my world, sometimes poems, sometimes reflections, sometimes short stories and about forty thousand words of a book I’ve left fallow. Just stuff.

So this is it. My blog. It might prove to be garbage and not at all your cup of tea. But that’s ok ‘cos I don’t like everything I read. I am even capable now of putting down a book and refusing to finish it because I’m just not enjoying it. Before, it was an absolute must to finish what I had started reading. But life’s too short.

So, if you don’t like what you read  here I will not be offended if you ‘put down the book’, close the page or just walk away. Everyone’s life is too short.

This is all going to start with stuff I’ve written over the years. Some of it is about children and some of it is about parenting. Some of it is about education, some about depression. Or faith. Hopefully, some of it will appeal or strike a chord.

I’ll try not to post the real garbage because I’ve definitely written some of that. Cringeworthy stuff. Writing I’ve kept because I tend to keep everything. Ask my sister. I’m a bit of a hoarder. Most of it I’ve kept because, like ugly photographs, I like the comparison when things are looking better.

I’ll include dates of when things were written otherwise you’ll think I’ve lost the plot and don’t know what age I am or how many children I have or where I lived or who has died.

OK Phil, I hear you. Shut up and just get on with it.

Here goes nothing.x

  1. Thank God for brothers and sisters who believe in us even if we don’t believe in ourselves.I look forward to reading more of the words that had to spill out of you 🙂 Let’s journey together…

  2. Be encouraged…from what I’ve read here so far, you are a gifted writer. None of my family or friends had seen any of my writing, apart from the odd poem here and there (and I mean odd!!) until I started writing on my blog. It is a wonderful thing to be part of the blogging community here, to share in the journey, together. As others have already said above, thank God for your brother… have a lovely day 🙂

  3. I started my blog to help me cope with the fear of vision loss and eye shots. That was almost 3 years ago and I think I might have done something really really stupid had I not started my blog; so write on!

    1. I did thank him as I am loving the whole experience. He’s well chuffed that he was the one that got me on to it. Releasing the spirit, as it were. I’m glad you’re enjoying.
There is so much talent out there, I’m always grateful that anyone finds and takes the time to read my words.
It’s like a wonderful journey of connection across minds. I love your writing and the insights you convey in your unique way. Isn’t it just tremendous?
All these connections and synapses sparking out to each other. And I didn’t even know about blogging until Phil got me started. I could kick myself!
Thank you for your lovely words. Truly they mean a lot. We all matter. Hugs.x

  5. All I can say is, TG for you Anne-Marie! I am going to be talking about why I blog on my post this week because I had a very unpleasant incident with someone who pretended to be friendly. Anyway, you write brilliantly, are a lovely person and I am so glad we have connected here. ❤

    1. Aw, thanks, Beth. I’ve met so many lovely people through WP, including yourself, even met Cole in the flesh! And it’s amazing the connections made but, as in life, so disappointing if we’re mistaken in our estimations of others. I’m sorry if you’ve had an unfortunate experience. The risks we take, I suppose, in putting ourselves out there. I’ll look forward to your post, Beth, as much as I always do to see your name pop up in my inbox.x

  6. This is fantastic! We need the champions in our lives who push and push until we “do it”. Love it that someone “released your spirit”! I look forward to reading more!
