Seek and search
It always has been thus
Purpose found in doing what we trust
Not to death regrets held deep inside
Channel gut to thought
Or dreams abide.
Awakened
Night or day
To inner voice
We listen
Or ignore
This then our choice.

Do you know how long it took me to shut up and listen momus…but when I did, I now smile a lot…and sometimes for no reason at all 😀
Great post momus, and eventually that wee little voice can be heard by all 🙂

It’s the shutting up that’s the hard part.

it seems it was the voice in my belly that always got me into trouble

Yeah, I have that T-shirt too. Now I go with my gut as the coin toss when I’ve exhausted all reason. 🙂

Quite a Buddhist feel to this poem, Anne-Marie, and, of course, it addresses that key question – whether to go with the heart or the head. Reads well second and third time too!

I probably mostly reason but, when something still niggles after that, gut will out. Then sometimes I regret it! Cannae win.

Listening in general would likely improve my life in many ways. Listening to other and to the inner voice. I need to have more quiet times. Reading your poetry keeps reminding me of this, Anne-Marie.

We probably all need to do more listening, Beth, to many voices. I might need to read some of my own back.
