Still…the man and the ideals.

“Old pirates, yes, they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit
But my hand was made strong
By the hand of the Almighty
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly

Won’t you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
Because all I ever have
Redemption songs

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds!
Have no fear for atomic energy
Because none of them can stop the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look?
Some say it’s just a part of it
We’ve got to fulfill the book” — Bob MarleyRedemption Song, Uprising (1980)

Quick, Peek

See the pages of the book as they flutter on the desk,

Caught by draught from semi-open door,

Glance upon the words, skim contents double-quick,

They’re flipping soon again, to peek some more.

Revel in the glimpse of the secrets words reveal,

While page is resting, sit down on that chair,

Peruse the contents fast, this moment doesn’t last,

A waft of current moves, no time to stare.

Chapter heads elude as the pages fall to rest,

Guess the meanings read without the clues,

Like guessing at the contents of the journal that you buy,

Minus headlines, quite frustrating news.

Reach to touch the pages and control the speed of pace,

But force invisible will shield the book,

Quickly, scan and skim, a glimpse of she or him,

Too late, await, you’ve had one little look.

Time Unknown

Oh, mystery and intrigue just after midnight,

Arriving just as chime of twelfth ends day,

Beckons new arrival under covers,

Awaits till sleepers rise to enter fray,

Into what’s unknown in all tomorrows,

Pending, abundant, at last strike,

The second that one ends and time begins again,

Oh, mystery, intrigue, new day on night.
